You can delve into Elgin's spooky past

Stir up something eerie this month with Elgin's fifth annual Supernatural Tour.

Beginning mid-October, adults can join Books at Sunset in Elgin and board a Victorian tram for a narrated tour of Elgin's hair-raising historic district on weekends and All Hallow's Eve.

This includes a stop at an ancient cemetery with a paranormal investigator, while druids provide drinks and a macabre atmosphere. Guests will return to the bookstore, 1100 South St., Elgin, where they can chat with spiritual intuit Ruth Maklezow, be intoxicated by Edgar Allan Poe, watch as Curt Morley hypnotizes the brave, and savor maudlin munchies and merciless punch.

The registration deadline is Wednesday. Admission for the adult event is $35 and includes the tour, a hypnosis show, drinks and appetizers. For details, call Books at Sunset at (847) 888-1860.
