Woman charged in lover's death
A 44-year-old Waukegan woman is in jail after she was charged with stabbing her 37-year-old boyfriend who later died, police said.
Michelle Browning is charged with stabbing her boyfriend, Brian McGee, of Waukegan in the abdomen with a kitchen knife after an argument Saturday, Waukegan police said.
Police responded to the 3600 block of Spitz Drive about 12:45 a.m. and found McGee lying on the floor of the apartment they lived in together injured from a stab wound, police said.
Police said the argument escalated when Browning went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife, stabbing McGee in the abdomen, police said.
McGee was taken to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan and had emergency surgery but later died of his injuries about 5 p.m. Saturday, Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said.
Before McGee died, Browning was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated domestic battery, police said. She is being held at the Lake County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Additional charges are expected in lieu of McGee's death, but those details were not available late Monday.
