Hainesville man charged in robbery

A Hainesville man was arrested Sunday on charges he beat a man and stole his wallet.

Lamar D. Jones, 34, of 345 Pineview, was arrested around 6:45 p.m. not far from the victim's Round Lake Park Home.

Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said officers were called to the 200 block of Fairlawn Drive around 6:45 p.m. Sunday and found the victim, who had been beaten in the face.

"He described the offender and we were familiar with him," Filenko said. "Our officers located Mr. Jones within minutes."

Filenko said Jones was an acquaintance of the 27-year-old victim.

Filenko said Jones had the victim's wallet and resisted arrest. Police Tasered him once.

Jones was charged with robbery, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest.

He is in Lake County jail on $50,000 bond.
