Would any neo-con care to explain?
I need some help from the Bush backers to explain what the heck is going on. While most people didn't even notice, the president of Afghanistan had a meeting with President Bush recently in the White House. The only thing the media reported was the usual handshake photo op and the obligatory statement that President Karzai is our man and he is doing a great job.
What really had to have happened was that President Karzai told President Bush that he was going to try to open a dialogue with the Taliban and Mullah Omar, which was just reported this past week. Just in case you don't remember, Mullah Omar is the deposed despot ruler of Afghanistan, and protector of Osama bin Laden.
Now I don't want to be the one saying that troops lost in Afghanistan were lost in vain, but on this front where we actually fought and routed a terrorist organization that inflicted harm on American soil, you do remember Sept. 11 don't you, I don't understand what is going on now. The Taliban and Mullah Omar were the ones that sponsored and protected the al-Qaida training camps; additionally these are the folks who banned women from attending school and made them dress in tent-like outfits, and made all the men conform to centuries-old rules of proper Islamic dress and behavior.
Please neo-con warriors of the right, help me understand what is going on; get me the correct spin so I know who and/or what to support.
