No room for outfits such as Blackwater
Blackwater, those "ambassadors of freedom" that President Bush has sent to Iraq, have been ordered to leave that country by the Iraqi government. Seems that they like to kill innocent Iraqis to "vent their anger," or just for amusement.
The Iraqi government order should be all it should require for Blackwater to be forced out; however, the U.S. government is sending the FBI to investigate first. How about letting the Iraqi police investigate instead? After all, it is their country isn't it?
Let's hope that this affair is not whitewashed by the U.S. government, perhaps lending credibility to the Iraqi government that we have propped up and installed.
Also, I have to ponder about firms like Blackwater when the war is over and they return here.
Do they have the potential in the borderline, "one man rule" that President Bush/Cheney are becoming to evolve into the "private army," for a political or industrial interest? If you believe this could not happen, look back in history to Adolf Hitler's infamous "Brownshirts," who were used to intimidate foes in pre-Nazi Germany.
Let us return to the "citizen army" that has always defended America and stop using mercenaries to fight our wars. Then use more discretion and decency in choosing which wars to fight!
