Choose not to still human heartbeat

When it comes to abortion, the woman's role in birthing is clear. The fetus will not be allowed life.

The woman will lay on a procedure table, the hiss of a suction machine signals the removal of body parts of the fetus from the safety and warmth of a womb.

Perhaps a sense of emptiness and loss will accompany the stilling of a heart that began to beat in the fourth week of development.

If the abortion takes place at the end of the eighth week, all external and internal structures have been formed, elbows and knees are bent. At 10 weeks, the face is recognizable as human.

But from the first instant of conception, the tissue of the fetus is microscopically identifiable as human. It will only develop into a human being.

So the heart that is stopped in an abortion is the beginning of a human heart, the beat of the heart is the beat of a human heart.

Perhaps that is why, in their deepest heartfelt feelings, so many people in Aurora oppose the abortions scheduled to be performed in their community.

The quiet of a stilled heart, life never to be given a chance to live, the emptiness of the womb of a woman who felt the need to end pregnancy.

It is organizations like the Women's Center, 5116 N. Cicero Avenue #301 in Chicago, 60630 that counsel to save these lives, provide cribs, clothing, food, emotional support and have distributed a half-million dollars to aid women who decide to take a chance on life, giving birth to babies that could have been aborted.

For those who cannot take the path of life for their pregnancy, let's hope that they receive love and support, free of judgment of their decision.
