IDOT falling short of fulfilling mission
I invite Illinois drivers to visit the Illinois Department of Transportation Web page (www.dot.state.il.us).
IDOT is the state agency with the very appropriate logo that resembles a "knot," just like the one in my stomach each day as I struggle to get to work via a myriad of construction projects. Read their mission statement: "We provide cost-effective transportation for IL in ways that enhance quality of life, promote economic prosperity, and demonstrate respect for our environment."
I don't think so.
By taking an inordinate amount of time to complete projects, longer, more congested commutes only add to already stressful lives and wastefully increases gas consumption.
Nothing on the site speaks to "road work being accomplished in less time with minimal inconvenience for motorists."
Maybe it's time for IDOT to re-examine their mission.
