Student charged after Web page alarms school
A Huntley High School senior was charged with disorderly conduct and suspended from school Thursday after postings on his MySpace page alarmed students and faculty, police said.
William Kuhns, a 17-year-old who lives on Niagara Lane in Huntley, started a post this week on his MySpace page asking how he could obtain a gun, police said.
When friends asked why he needed a gun, Kuhns responded that he was fed up with teachers and other people at school, police said.
"He talked about how the teachers are stripping students of their individuality," Huntley Police Chief John Perkins said. "He said, 'I could take a gun to them right now.' "
Two anonymous sources, including one of the students who was exchanging posts with Kuhns, contacted Huntley High School Principal Dave Johnson Thursday morning, police said.
School officials escorted Kuhns to a private area in the school when he arrived at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Police said they found no weapons during a search of Kuhns' home and locker and seized a computer from Kuhns' room.
Kuhns told officers the MySpace posts were just talk, police said.
"He was frustrated. He had a tough time at school. He's just blowing off steam," Perkins said Kuhns told police.
The MySpace page where Kuhns posted the alarming messages has been taken down, police said.
