Raise a glass and toast to good wine tonight in Barrington

Barrington is the place to be tonight for wine connoisseurs.

The Barrington Area Council on Aging is hosting its 12th annual wine tasting, "Aged to Perfection: A Celebration of Life & Wine" from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the Performing Arts Center at The Garlands of Barrington, 1000 Garlands Lane.

More than 50 varieties of wine, provided Barrington Cellars, will be available to sample and buy at the event.

The Barrington Area Council on Aging will receive 20 percent of the proceeds from all the wine sold.

The event will also feature the music of the John Mose Quartet, a dinner buffet and live and silent auction items.

Items up for auction include cooking classes, dining certificates, home-catered meals and tickets to sporting events.

Tickets are $85 per person and include valet parking.

The wine tasting is the council's largest fundraising event. The goal this year is to raise $65,000 to support programs and services for Barrington-area seniors and family caregivers.
