Golf
Hole-in-one: On Oct. 6, Elgin resident David Strahl hit a hole-in-one at the Wing Park Golf Course in Elgin.
Strahl accomplished the feat using a 4 iron on the 175-yard par 3 Hole No. 5. This marks Strahl's first hole in one in his 40-plus years of playing golf.
Hole-in-one: David Korth of Elgin hit a hole-in-one at the Wing Park Golf Course on Oct. 7. Korth used an 8 iron on the 143-yard par 3 Hole No. 9.
Wrestling
Grapplers registration: The Kane County Grapplers, in cooperation with South Elgin and Elgin high schools, will continue registration for its 2007-08 wrestling season.
Registration dates include: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 20 at Elgin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin, and South Elgin High School, 760 E. Main St.; and 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 in the lobby of The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.
The wrestling season will be November through March. Bring a copy of the birth certificate and checks to cover fees. Registration is $125. Registration forms will need to be filled out at time of registration.
The Kane County Grapplers is part of the IKWF Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation and is an exciting program for children kindergarten through eighth grade who want to learn wrestling skills through a fun and competitive program. They have scheduled weekday practices and attend tournaments on the weekends.

Fundraiser
E Booster Club event: On Oct. 27, the Elgin High School Booster Club presents "Booster Bonanza III -- Masquerade," a silent auction and buffet dinner from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the Rolling Knolls Country Club in Elgin. Costumes are optional. Proceeds benefit all Elgin High athletes. For ticket information or to donate any items, call (630) 939-8064.
Raffle for wrestling: The South Elgin High School Booster Foundation Wrestling Activity Group is raffling off a new 2008 Ford Mustang from Joe Cotton Ford.
Raffle tickets for $10 can be purchased through Oct. 29. Booster club volunteers will be selling raffle tickets at home football games.
The drawing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in the high school commons prior to the fall sports awards.

Baseball/softball
Tri-Cities Little League: Registration for the 2008 baseball season with Tri-Cities Little League will begin on Oct. 27, both in-person and online.
Onsite registration will be offered from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Dundee Township Park District Recreation Center, along Route 68 in Carpentersville.
Volunteers from Tri-Cities will be located in the Sleepy Hollow Room located on the lower level of the building.
Also beginning on Oct. 27, returning and new players can register online at www.tri-citiesll.com.
The league takes in players from East and West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow and portions of Carpentersville and Gilberts.
Tri-Cities Little League attracts roughly 600 boys and girls to its program each year. The program includes kids, ages 5 to 18, and features a growing girls' softball league. The league's main fields are located at the Randall Oaks Baseball Complex behind Dundee Middle School on Route 72, just west of Randall Road. The season runs from April through June. Soccer
High school tryouts: Real Chicago FC will hold its 2007-08 High School U15 to U18 tryouts from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 21 at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. The fields are located behind the football stadium. Players should arrive one-half hour early to register and bring birth certificate, wallet size photo, completed IYSA waiver, shin guards, ball and water bottle.
All players will go through a normal training session with the coaching staff, which includes technical drills, conditioning exercises and tactical games. Indoor training begins November, and the spring season in the NISL runs through June 2008.
