I heard there's going to be a seminar in Huntley about avoiding getting scammed. When is it, and is there a charge?

The seminar, which will focus on not becoming a victim of scams and cons, will be hosted for senior citizens by Grafton Township. The seminar is free for residents.

The event will feature speakers from the McHenry County State's Attorney's office, the McHenry County Sheriff's Department, Harris Bank and the Citizens Utility Board. The speakers will talk about ways to protect yourself from scams.

Space is limited at the event, which will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, so township officials are asking you to RSVP by calling (847) 669-8500.

It will be held at the Huntley Park District's Cosman Cultural Center. The township will offer free transportation on the senior bus, but it is on a first come, first serve basis.
