Planned Parenthood serves vital function
In response to Dean Schroeder of Sugar Grove in his Sept. 26 letter, America and the Planned Parenthood organization are very much awake and not anchored in Victorian times. Decisions made in the construction of our Constitution demanded the separation of church and state. The religious beliefs of some citizens cannot be forced on all.
When, if ever, have Mr. Schroeder, or others of his mindset, attended the educational sessions given by Planned Parenthood so that he is so certain that promiscuity is urged for 12 and 13 year old girls? Young people as young as eight-years-old or 10-years-old all the way to young married women need knowledge based on facts offered by Planned Parenthood.
I wonder if opponents of Planned Parenthood are standing in a line, eager to adopt the next baby born to a destitute 14- or 15-year-old child who was raped --- or was a victim of incest.
Health care and useful and accurate knowledge are dispensed by Planned Parenthood. Indeed, the failure to own this information too often results in an unwanted pregnancy.
"Enslavement" (a term used by Mr. Schroeder) would more likely be caused by the prejudices resulting from misguided information. I sincerely wish Planned Parenthood success in all their endeavors.
