Kane Co. forest preserve seeks volunteers
Learn how to become a volunteer with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County at a special open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will take place in Building G of the Kane County Government Center, 719 Batavia Ave., Geneva.
Opportunities range from environmental education and cultural preservation to natural areas restoration and preserve monitoring throughout Kane County.
"Volunteering for a healthier habitat and preserving area history is a great way to give back to the community and get some exercise in a beautiful setting," said Julia Bourque, volunteer coordinator.
Those who apply for a volunteer position during the open house may attend an orientation Oct. 23 from 7 to 8 p.m. The orientation is designed to help new volunteers become acclimated to the district, its mission and the specifics of volunteer duties.
Though the orientation is designed as training for new volunteers, anyone interested is welcome.
