Octoberfest dinner: The Knights of Columbus Regina Council will host Octoberfest dinners each Friday in October from 4:30-8 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 181 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling. Dinners include bratwurst, Bavarian breast of chicken, German potato salad, sauerkraut, rye bread and dessert for $7. $1 extra for salad bar. Beer wine and soft drinks also available. (847) 537-2740.

Paperback and hardcover books, CDs, videotapes and CD-roms, more. Proceeds benefit special programs, educational materials and the purchase of new items.
"Navigating the Future": Northwest Community Hospital's 49th annual fashion show and luncheon: 10 a.m. Friday; Meadows Club, 2950 W. Golf Road, Rolling Meadows. $60; reserved tables of 10 are $600. Dining out fundraiser: The Rolling Meadows Senior Center Dining Out fundraiser: Oct. 17; Max & Erma's, Northpoint Shopping Center, 306 E.
