Chamber expo gives a taste of Barrington

Some of the best of what Barrington has to offer will be on display this week.

Wanting to give its members a chance to show off their wares, the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its fourth annual Great Taste'fest & Expo.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our restaurants and businesses," chamber President Janet Meyer said.

Those who attend will be able to sample food and drinks from 20 restaurants, coffee houses and breweries.

Another 20 businesses will have exhibits set up on what they do and the services they offer.

"This is like an Octoberfest for us," Meyer said.

The event is scheduled for 6 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Onion Pub and Brewery, 22221 Pepper Road, Lake Barrington. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

The event has drawn more than 600 people in past years.

"It is a huge event," Meyer said. "It should really prove to be a fun."

While this is just the fourth year for the Great Taste'fest & EXPO, Meyer said the chamber has been hosting an October fundraiser for 29 years.

Previously, the chamber hosted a Halloween fundraiser in the fall, which Meyer said was also well attended.

"We have a history of planning great parties," she said.

All of the money raised during the event will go into the chamber's small business education program.

"The money goes right back into the community," Meyer said.
