Elgin Theatre Company stages 'House of Dracula'
The Elgin Theatre Company will present "The House of Dracula" on Fridays and Saturdays, through Oct. 27 at Theatre 355, 355 E. Chicago St., Elgin. Performances start at 8 p.m.
Playwright Martin Downing's play is a farce comedy/horror show with all of your favorite horror villains including Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman and others. The play is a spin-off from "The House of Frankenstein!" See the Baron, Baroness and their repulsive retainers, Ygor and Frau Lurker, going to stay at a macabre Transylvanian fortress.
Excitement turns to terror, though, when they are greeted by more than a few of their mortal (and immortal) enemies; and the news that they are to take part in an unholy survival test involving ghouls, ghosts and the fiendish Dr. Jekyll, who peps up happy hour with a potion stolen from a vengeful Egyptian mummy. When chaos erupts, the Frankensteins flee from cellar to attic, desperate to escape a fate worse than death. This funny, fast-moving horror farce proves that there is something rotten in the state of Transylvania -- and it's not dinner.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for youth and seniors. Special group rates are available.
