Elgin bank to feature private schools' artwork
Artists from local private schools will display their work in a special exhibit hosted by First Community Bank.
The exhibit will begin with a grand opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First Community Bank-Tyler Creek Banking Center, 50 Tyler Creek Plaza, Elgin. The exhibit will continue until Nov. 7.
Each school will be displaying approximately 25 pieces of artwork from kindergarten through 12th grade. Currently nine schools are participating in this exhibition, including Westminster Christian School in Elgin, Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Elgin, Elgin Academy and St. Catherine of Siena School in West Dundee.
"Each participant is excited to have a place to have their students' art exhibited," stated Joseph Stanczak, vice president and manager of the Tyler Creek Banking Center. "This is the fourth art show the bank has hosted for Elgin schools including U-46 juried shows at the high school level. We are pleased to be able to provide a venue for student artists and we plan on hosting additional shows during the 2007-08 school year."
Margaret Sanders of St. Catherine of Siena School stated, "This exhibit will give our students and art teacher another outlet for their work. The students participating will be from first through eighth grade and opportunities like this inspire each participant to do their best work, to exhibit the best of their abilities and to reach out to the community and share the good work done here at St. Catherine's School."
Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays during the exhibit's run. It is open to the public.
