Pace's reasons for leaving are his own

The recent resignation of Prospect Heights Mayor Rodney Pace came as a shock to all residents; however, the reasons were indisputable. Mayor Pace cited health reasons for his resignation, which is by all means a justifiable reason and there is no reason for that to be disputed.

A select number of Pace adversaries say they think he left due to political reasons and couldn't quite handle the pressure. The most astonishing statement to note is one made by Gerald Anderson in the Sept. 15 article by Ashok Selvam titled "Prospect Heights mayor steps down." Anderson, a known Pace challenger, said he was amused by the resignation.

This inadvertent wish of ill will is a disheartening statement. Finding amusement in someone's health problems is crude and downright mean. He was in office five months into his second term, and medical conditions can flare up at anytime, so for people to falsely accuse him of leaving for questionable reasons is absurd.

I feel that as a human being and a good citizen we should respect the personal life decisions made by our leaders and allow them to live their lives when out of the public sphere, without criticism.
