Be considerate of those who sacrifice
This letter is in response to the editorial (written by Richard Snowden, Oct. 4) regarding both the COWARD ACT, and the organization called CHICKEN.
Mr. Snowden expresses his opinion because he has been given that right through the Constitution, which has been protected by all the men and women who have given their time -- and in some cases their lives -- in defense of his rights. I find his tongue-in-cheek characterizations of those who support our military to be both capricious and mean spirited.
Mr. Snowden hasn't broken any laws with his editorial, but I do believe he is guilty of being incredibly unkind. Does he even consider that there are family members of those who serve, who wake up in the morning, and read what he wrote? Does he not think that it is even slightly upsetting to them? Does he not understand that without their sacrifices, he would not be able to write his opinion freely?
With that in mind, I propose a new acronym: the Society for the Tragically Unbelievable Premeditated Insensitive Diatribes -- or STUPID. Perhaps Mr. Snowden would like to be the original member.
