Itasca police seek armed robbery suspect

Itasca police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Friday night at a fast-food restaurant.

An unidentified man entered a Burger King, 351 N. Rohlwing Road, around 8:25 p.m., pointed a silver gun at the manager and demanded money from the register, according to police reports.

Upon receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the man fled on foot north on Rohlwing Road into a neighboring industrial park.

A tracking dog was taken to the scene but lost the scent a couple blocks from where the incident occurred, police reported.

A couple customers and employees were in the restaurant at the time of the robbery, Itasca police Sgt. Russ Crotty said. No one was injured.

Itasca police are checking out reports from other towns where similar armed robberies have occurred.

"We're investigating a few leads at this point," Crotty said.

The suspect is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Itasca police at (630) 773-1004.
