Fire damages SUV parked in St. Charles garage

St. Charles Fire Department officials are continuing to investigate a Friday night car fire that caused an estimated $15,000 damage to a Ford Explorer.

No injuries were reported during the blaze at 1814 Via Veneto Drive.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the fire at 5:43 p.m. They brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

Officials said the blaze was contained to the Ford Explorer, which was inside an unattached garage. The garage and a nearby house weren't damaged.

The origin of the fire is unknown but isn't considered suspicious, officials said.

St. Charles was assisted by the Geneva and Batavia fire departments.
