Campton Twp., village sign street deal
Campton Township's highway commissioner will maintain all roads in the newly formed village of Campton Hills under a 10-year agreement between the municipalities, officials announced this week.
The deal means most Campton Hills residents will continue to receive service from the same source it did before the village incorporated via a spring referendum. Plato Township residents now in the village will see a change.
The exact amount of money Campton Hills will pay for the service is unclear.
Village President Patsy Smith said officials have agreed to give the township all motor fuel tax revenue, culvert permit fees and the village's share of road and bridge monies. The funding will be exactly what Campton Township would have received had the village not incorporated, she said.
Road maintenance includes snow removal, ice control and brush pickup. The township also will handle permit requests for culverts and access roads.
The next brush pickup for Campton Hills will be Oct. 15 to 19 for those north of Route 64 and Oct. 22 to 26 for those south of Route 64. Pickup in Plato Township will be Oct. 30 and 31.
