No need to build a new high school

Just released figures from Indian Prairie School District 204 show that for the second year in a row, K-5 enrollment declined by hundreds of students. Where will the students come from for the yet to be built multi-million dollar high school with an annual operating budget of millions more? Remember when the district told you enrollment would grow by 1,200-1,500 students? Wrong, there is no student growth (at the elementary school level) and the numbers clearly show that.

Remember when they threatened you with split shifts and hired a dirty tricks marketing firm using your tax dollars to scare you with threats of overcrowding? Have they no shame?

Remember when they told you "no tax increase"? Yeah, right, everyone knows you can borrow hundreds of millions of dollars and your taxes won't go up! What do they call that, new math? Ask your neighbor, who had her house foreclosed because she could not pay her tax bill, what she calls it. Skyrocketing property taxes are ruining the quality of life in our community. Everyone wants good schools and a good education for their children but they don't want senior citizens and the working mother next door unnecessarily taxed out of their homes due to mismanagement and government waste.

Indian Prairie School District 204 already built an empty elementary school that had stood empty for an entire school year. Do we need an empty high school too?

What we need is an outside, independent review.
