Backbone lost at Buffalo Grove

The culture of this once blue ribbon school is sliding down the ladder. How can this happen in such a short time span of five years?

We heard of the 2006 school book debacle, the national news making gay/lesbian homecoming court, the day of silence, where educators and students alike can choose to not say a word during the class day in support of homosexuals, and now we will remove the name of God from our school grounds.

The latter is hard to comprehend as it stems from a misguided-14-year old girl. She simply did not want to sing "God bless America" at a homecoming event.

This song, written in the 1800s, was to glorify the beauty of the land, not to promote any religious beliefs. It's quite disturbing that one child, without the support of the 2,300-plus other students, has such an impact on the board, not to mention a school that should be developing 2,300-plus potential leaders.
