Students get ready for Twisterathon

Howard B. Thomas Grade School, 44W575 Plato Road in Burlington, is celebrating Spirit Week to gear up for its second annual Twisterathon Friday.

Just before the 9 a.m. bell, school spirit music will be played to start off each day with different themes and activities. The themes include: A Day at the Beach; Armed Forces Day; Sports Day; Western Wear Day; and School Pride Day.

On Friday, the Twisterathon will start at 1:30 p.m. with a parade from the school to Rocket Hill, led by the high school marching band. After an opening ceremony, students will walk around the track with dance stops and water stations every 10 to 15 minutes.

Dances will include "The Macarena," "The Chicken Dance," the "Cha Cha Slide," and "The Hokey Pokey." Music will be provided by the high school marching band while the high school cheerleaders lead the school spirit.
