South Elgin Parks and Recreation FUNdation

The South Elgin Parks and Recreation FUNdation will host its annual 7K run and 2-mile fun walk at 8 a.m. Saturday at the village hall, 10 N. Water St., South Elgin.

A 7K course will provide a scenic run through the village, while the walk will take participants down the Fox River Trail.

Registration booths will be set up at 6:30 a.m. Local business owner Bob Kearns will emcee the race.

"We are very excited to bring the Harvest Hustle to the village again this year," said Mary Rohr, president of the FUNdation. "This event gives us the opportunity to promote healthy activities for our residents, while raising money to support important initiatives."

All participants will receive awards. Additional performance awards will be given in the categories of 14 and under, top five co-rec (boys and girls), and top five female and male runners ages 15 and older.

The cost to participate in 7K run is $20 or $25 on race day. The 2-mile walk costs $10 or $15 on race day. Registration will be accepted in person at the village hall, 10 N. Water St.; faxed to (847) 622-0462; or online at www.signmeup.com.
