Author to introduce new kids' book

On Oct. 8, author Judith Rolfs will be at Royal Oak Apple Orchard in Hebron from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a book signing to launch her new book, "Tommy Smurlee and the Missing Statue." This mystery is for children ages 9 and older.

Rolfs has been a teacher and a counselor. A mom who almost lost a son to cancer, she wants children to have carefree and positive childhoods.

Rolfs also wants to help children know their spiritual foundation. After reading "Tommy Smurlee and the Missing Statue," kids should be entertained and know more about the character of God, the power of prayer and how to treasure and develop relationships with God and people.

Rolfs writes about a children's camp from personal experience. She and her husband co-directed one for 20 years. She weaves real-life issues and problems common to children, like dealing with bullies, misunderstanding between friends and spiritual questions, into her writing.

In the mystery, Tommy Smurlee works with the Silver Team at the Camp of Mystery and Inventions to solve the Great Unsolved Mystery. Children attend this camp to develop their imagination.
