Libertyville motorcyclist hurt in crash
A Libertyville motorcyclist suffered critical injuries in an accident Sunday in an area near Mundelein, according to police and fire officials.
Countryside Fire Assistant Chief Kris Kazian said emergency crews were called to Midlothian Road and Highland Avenue at 6:37 p.m. after hearing reports a motorcycle and car had collided.
The fire department found a 27-year-old man who had multiple traumatic injuries, Kazian said, and took him via Air Angels to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
Deputy Chief Thomas Braze of the Lake County sheriff's patrol division said the man was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Midlothian with a fellow cyclist on a 1998 Harley.
In front of them was a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 27-year-old Mundelein woman, who was slowing to make a left turn onto Highland, officials said.
The Libertyville man first hit his friend's motorcycle, then the woman's car, Braze said.
Neither the woman nor the other motorcyclist, a 23-year-old Ingleside resident, were seriously hurt, Kazian said.
Sheriff's police are not releasing the names of anyone involved in the accident while they investigate, Braze said.
"We still have to have the opportunity to interview the motorcyclist," he said. No tickets have been issued.
