A sweet success
An ice cream lick-a-thon has to be the tastiest way to raise money for a good cause.
A Carol Stream Baskin-Robbins recently invited customers to satisfy a sweet craving while helping out a good cause, Western DuPage Special Recreation Association.
The store offered 10 percent of all proceeds from the sale of Baskin-Robbins and Oreo ice cream treats.
Participants not only were able to taste all the new items from the Oreo Explosion menu, but they had a contest to see who could lick the fastest.
WDSRA, based in Carol Stream, has been providing recreational activities for people with disabilities and special needs in DuPage County since 1976. The agency has more than 1,000 activities for more than 8,000 people.
And the winner is … Michael LaVoie of Carol Stream, 18, right, celebrates his victory as the fastest licker of an Oreo Explosion cone during a competition with Perry Allston, 14, also of Carol Stream.
