Aurora should let center open

One thing I think people would agree on is there is no middle ground when it comes to abortion. You are either for legal, full reproductive rights for women, or you are not.

That being said, the city of Aurora is displaying the worst political posturing possible with its recent actions against Planned Parenthood.

Selecting a city representative who has protested against Planned Parenthood as the person to find a law firm to review their building permit process reeks of bias.

The supposed $250 campaign contribution from the legal firm takes second place to this prejudicial act.

Planned Parenthood provides much needed reproductive services for women, including poor women, who would otherwise not receive proper medical attention before or during their pregnancy. Many of the services offered by Planned Parenthood prevent unwanted pregnancies, and thus prevent abortions. I would think the protesters who object to abortion would be in favor of these programs.

Also, those who oppose full reproductive rights seem to forget Planned Parenthood, and the women who seek medical help from them, are exercising their legal rights as decided in the Roe vs. Wade decision.

No other legally operating entity has ever garnered the frightening and dangerous attention that reproductive clinics work under every day. If Planned Parenthood used the name of one of its subsidiary companies, it is understandable for preventing harassment of, initially, construction workers, and later, employees of the clinic.

Though I share a different viewpoint, I respect the rights of the protesters. What I don't share is their attempt to shove their idea of morality down the throats of the rest of us. Our actions in life, as long as they do not negatively impact another living human being, are our decisions alone, either with or without the guidance of a God.

The one thing I question is where are all the young women, the majority, who support full reproductive rights, and why aren't you speaking up? Have the rest of us, working for years to get and maintain these rights, made it too easy for you? Wake up and smell the danger. There are people ready to take away your freedoms. You need to make sure they don't.

And, City of Aurora, grow a backbone and do what is legally correct -- allow the opening and functioning of a sorely needed reproductive clinic in your city.
