7th-ranked Texas done in by Kansas State's special teams

The Kansas State Wildcats charged toward their purple-clad fans behind the end zone to celebrate, then turned around and left the field flashing downward "Hook'em Horns!" signs.

"Texas who?" shouted Wildcats wide receiver Deon Murphy.

No longer undefeated Texas, that's who.

Kansas State scored 3 touchdowns on special teams and an interception Saturday and the Wildcats stunned the No. 7 Longhorns 41-21, handing Texas coach Mack Brown his worst home defeat in 10 years.

The Wildcats (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) defense pounded Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy into his worst game with a relentless pass rush and 4 interceptions. Linebacker Ian Campbell returned the first pick 41 yards for a touchdown.

USC 27, Washington 24: Stafon Johnson ran for 122 yards and a touchdown and Chauncey Washington added 106 yards and a score as top-ranked USC (4-0, 2-0 Pac-10) overcame its own numerous mistakes and host Washington.

Washington rookie QB Jake Locker finished 12-for-27 with 83 yards passing and 1 interception, plus another 50 yards on 16 carries with 2 touchdowns. His final TD came after a blocked punt and with 34 seconds left.

USC then recovered the onside kick and could finally relax.

The Huskies were wearing the dark and gold jerseys and plain, gold helmets of the 1960 team which beat No. 1 Minnesota in the Rose Bowl, the only time Washington has beaten a top-ranked opponent.

LSU 34, Tulane 9: Jacob Hester's second touchdown of the game and Charles Scott's pair of scoring runs helped host LSU (5-0) amass 24 unanswered second-half points in a win over Tulane.

California 31, Oregon 24: DeSean Jackson had 11 catches for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Justin Forsett ran for 101 yards and another 2 scores to lead No. 6 California (5-0, 2-0 Pac-10) over 11th-ranked Oregon (4-1, 1-1) in Eugene, Ore.

Maryland 34, Rutgers 24: Backup quarterback Chris Turner led three second-half scoring drives, Keon Lattimore rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown and Maryland's defense shut down Ray Rice in a win over 10th-ranked Oregon.
