Gun play, moves old phenomena

I'm sorry to report it, but gun violence in Elgin is here to stay.

A sad fact of American life is that when crowded cities and towns begin to age, they become inundated with illegal immigrants and legal citizens who rely on government-provided social services.

In a sort of twisted irony, the very people the government seeks to provide relief to turn on society with an anger that often manifests itself in gun play. We've seen this phenomenon for years now in government-provided housing projects in our major American cities.

This new population trend in Elgin is the reason I've seen so many friends and family leave the area for the relative safety of new housing developments in western Kane County and other outlying counties.
