Gurnee teen accused of racial threats
A teenager was arrested Thursday, accused of making racially charged comments and other behavior that disrupted fellow students at Warren Township High School's upperclassmen campus on Almond Road, Gurnee police said.
Curtis Hiett, 17, of 979 Charles Ave. in Gurnee, was charged with disorderly conduct, Deputy Police Chief Kevin Woodside said. The charge against Hiett is a misdemeanor.
Woodside said Hiett had been behaving inappropriately toward two other students since the academic year began. He said the latest incident occurred Monday.
"There was no specific threat leveled at a specific student," Woodside said.
Warren District 121 administrators summoned Gurnee police Thursday. Woodside said police arrested Hiett at his home.
District 121 spokeswoman Carolyn Waller said school officials won't comment about Hiett until authorities have completed their investigation.
