The Cure returns
The Cure rescheduled its fall date previously set at the Allstate Arena. Look for the band to return to Rosemont May 17. If you're a ticketholder who can't attend the new date, refunds are available at the original point of purchase through Nov. 1. Tickets are still available at the Allstate box office or through Ticketmaster. The band decided to cancel its tour to finish up a new album, due this spring.
Lollapalooza dates
Dates for Lollapalooza 2008 were announced this week. Mark Aug. 1-3 on your calendar for the festival's return to Grant Park.
Son Seals tribute
Kingston Mines, 2548 N. Halsted St., Chicago, is hosting a tribute to blues guitarist Son Seals, who died of complications from diabetes in 2004. The concert, at 9 p.m. Saturday and hosted by Magic Slim and the Teardrops, will mark the release of "A Journey Through the Blues: The Son Seals Story," a new DVD hosted by Magic Slim and featuring a bonus hour of live concert footage. Alan Parsons live
Local prog rock band Lobster Newberg will open for Alan Parsons at The Hemmens, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin, at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $55. Visit hemmens.org.
Gothicfest
Start shining your corset and knee-high boots: Gothicfest returns to Chicago Oct. 12-13 at Excalibur, 632 N. Dearborn, Chicago. The festival features goth bands lke Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Attrition from the UK, Yluko from Germany, Outshine from Sweden and many more. Tickets are $32.50 per day, $55 for a weekend pass.
