Rockwell Lounge takes over where Narcisse left off

Add Rockwell Lounge to River North's night life map.

Described as a "champagne rock lounge," the upscale nightspot from veterans James Brown and Elizabeth P., opened last week in Narcisse's old digs at 710 N. Clark St., Chicago.

The modern, minimalist lounge has VIP areas, a jewel-tone color palette and professional pole dancers. Non-pros can show off their moves on poles located downstairs in Rockwell's more intimate lower level.

Hours are 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday to Friday, 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday. DJs spin classic rock, hip-hop and R&B nightly beginning at 9 p.m. There's no cover. (312) 787-2675 or www.rockwellchicago.com.

More club news: After seven years, Cherry Red is closing. The club at 2833 N. Sheffield, Chicago, hosts a farewell bash featuring guest DJs. Domestic beer and well drinks are $1, everything else is $2. There's a$7 cover. (773) 477-3661.

From Lynwood to University Park: "Weird Al" Yankovic brings his "Straight Outta Lynwood" tour to Governors State University's Center for the Performing Arts Saturday.

The multimedia, pop culture parody features Yankovic's band and dancers from Orland Park's American Dance Center. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets range from $41 to $59. They're available at the box office, at (708) 235-2222 or at www.centertickets.net.
