Each party has its liars, hypocrites
Mr. Mott (Fence Post, Sept. 21) thinks that Democrats don't have liars and hypocrites in his party. I can suggest that a famous senator from Massachusetts who shall remain nameless was involved some 30 years ago in a driving incident where he drove off a bridge, thereby killing a young woman. At first he claimed that he couldn't remember anything from the night before but after speaking to the family lawyer he claimed he swam to find help, but finding none he went to sleep and awoke to notify authorities to look under the bridge to see if they could find his car. They did, with the young woman in it.
The news media dutifully covered the story by virtually dismissing everything and the judge hearing the case (appointed by the family no less) decided in his infinite wisdom that all information that could be harmful to the senator and his family could not be released until 2007.
Of course that will never happen. Mr. Mott, if both parties were to remove all the hypocrites and liars present we would have no one on either the Senate or House.
