South Elgin High School to hold its blood drive

The South Elgin High School Storm is hosting its second annual blood drive from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at South Elgin High School, 760 E. Main St.

The community is encouraged to attend for this blood drive by Heartland Blood Centers. To sign up, call Tracey Jakaitis at (847) 289-3760, ext. 3505.

To be a blood donor, individuals must be at least 17 years old, 16 with written parental permission; weigh at least 110 pounds; be symptom free of cold, flu and allergies; and be in general good health.

Donors who have traveled outside the United States within the past 12 months should contact Heartland at (800) 7TO-GIVE to determine eligibility.
