Learn about welding course offered at ECC

Kane County welders are earning average entry-level salaries of $50,000 per year, according to leading labor organizations.

Elgin Community College offers classes that lead to careers as welders, cutters, solderers and brazers.

College staff will host an interactive, information session to explain the career field from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Industry Training Center, Room ITR 110, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Reservations are recommended by calling (847) 214-7385.

The college offers five study options in welding, including fabrication and arc and MIG welding. Three options can be completed in 16 weeks of full-time study.
