Ladies VFW group to hold Penny Social fundraiser

The Carpentersville Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5915 will hold its annual Penny Social today.

Doors are open at 5:30 p.m. at the Tri-City Evergreen VFW Post, 117 S. First St., West Dundee. They will start calling numbers at 7 p.m.

The Penny Social includes table prizes and two raffles throughout the evening that include a food basket and other items.

The Ladies Auxiliary is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the veterans and the community. The Penny Social is its largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds help to further the organization's goals such as donating to the local police department, fire department, Little League, Boys and Girls Club, homeless shelters, Community Crisis Center and the American Cancer Society.
