Fire guts empty Libertyville home
A Libertyville house for sale is uninhabitable after a fire Monday left it charred and roofless.Firefighters responded to 29762 Oak Spring Lane around 5:30 p.m. after a passer-by called to report a fire, Libertyville fire officials said.Fire officials called local tankers for assistance because there were no nearby hydrants.Firefighters filled tankers from the nearest hydrant off Hawthorne Lane, bringing the water to three large pools set up in the middle of a cul-de-sac near the house, officials said. The fire engines sucked the water from the pools, which hold about 2,000 gallons of water each, to douse the fire. The fire took about an hour to get under control with 15 to 20 local departments assisting, officials said. The fire was contained to the living area of the house, which sustained about $950,000 damage, officials said. The house was empty. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was injured, officials said.
