• Ralph Nader's "Seventeen Traditions" is a delight to read on several levels. First it is well written, descriptive and entertaining, second it covers parenting skills of amazing depth, third it shares the rich tradition of Lebanese culture and finally it shares the stories of how this man became one of the most influential citizens of our nation.
• Rock and roll surfaced through a combination of a vocalist, drummer, upright bass, and acoustic & electric guitar. The music scene changed forever in the 1950s through the work of a group called the "Blue Moon Boys: The Story of Elvis Presley's Band" by Ken Burke and Dan Griffin.
• The iconic great white hunter, Denys Finch Hatton, did not leave much of a paper trail but author Sara Wheeler decided to pursue him through the eyes of those around him in "Too Close To The Sun." Hatton leads readers on a journey through the turn of the century, a world war, photographic big game adventures and more set on an African stage.
• As school children we read about the Civil War and Lincoln the president, the rail splitter and political man but few of us have read about "Lincoln The Lawyer" by Brian Dirck. This book gives readers a broad view of the practice of law in Illinois in the mid-1800s as well as details of Lincoln's law education and skills.
