A look at Fall TV with Ted Cox

My what-to-watch list for tonight includes the best series premiere of the season.

"Reaper," 8 p.m., WGN Channel 9. The CW network unveils the best new show of the fall, as a slacker discovers on his 21st birthday that his parents sold his soul to the devil. Kevin Smith directs with an eye and ear for irreverent humor, and Ray Wise steals the show as Satan.

"Cane," 9 p.m., WBBM Channel 2. CBS tries to bring "The Sopranos"-style family drama to prime time with Jimmy Smits heading a Cuban-American clan doing business in sugar and rum. It's not quite as bold as it thinks, but the cast is great, including Hector Elizondo and Rita Moreno.

"Bones," 7 p.m., WFLD Channel 32. The chemistry only gets better between Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz as they begin their third season on Fox solving crimes and trying not to get romantically involved.
