Lake Zurich Flames raise money for baby McKenna
The Lake Zurich Flames' second Annual Kickoff Party held on Aug. 30 was a success, as over 400 families were in attendance at the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center. The Flames thank Hawthorn Woods Mayor Keith Hunt and parks and recreation director Kim Lynch.
Carlene DiMaggio and her volunteers organized this event, which was not only for the enjoyment of the kids, but it was a also a charitable fundraiser. The Flames are raising funds for a baby girl named McKenna who was diagnosed with a rare condition called lissencephaly. The Flames raised $1,200 for McKenna via a dunk tank and donations. In addition, five Lake Zurich children raised $31 by selling slushies f.
McKenna is the daughter of Mike and Nicole Tyszkiewicz and the niece of Geoff and Tammy Meyer. The Meyers have lived in Lake Zurich for nearly 20 years. Tammy Meyer has worked as a paraprofessional at Sarah Adams Elementary. Geoff Meyer is ex-President of the Lake Zurich Flames and is now President of The Chicagoland Youth Football League.
