No one wants to take responsibility

Slowly, but surely, I am losing faith in humanity, of their values, or lack of thereof.

I am sick and tired of hearing excuses, alibis, pointing the finger elsewhere or just plain irresponsible behavior being accepted or somehow just explained away.

Politicians, sports figures, entertainers, illegals and common-folk Americans seem to find a way to justify or minimize indiscretions.

Many seem to not accept the ramifications of their behavior.

Politicians were misinformed. Entertainers and sports figures made "mistakes." Illegals demand rights they have not earned.

And so many of us, not in the public eye, defy so many rules and regulations constantly every day because we think we have the right to.

Not much seems wrong anymore. Anything goes. Hooray for me. Me first. We seem to be able to justify wrongdoing by using one of many defense mechanisms in our arsenal, which we have honed to a fine art.

What has happened to our morals, our values, our conscience?

What has happened to our ability to say -- "I am wrong" -- "I am responsible for my actions," "I am sorry" -- "Forgive me."

If we don't change as a society soon, we are heading down the path of self-destruction.
