Drug agency raids Bartlett townhouse

A Drug Enforcement Administration spokeswoman confirmed its agents raided a Bartlett townhouse Thursday morning.

The federal agency said the activity on Rizzi Lane is part of an ongoing national enforcement campaign.

She said more activity related to the campaign was expected to occur during the weekend across the country. She declined to comment further because of the ongoing investigation.

She wouldn't say if anyone had been taken into custody during Thursday's activity in Bartlett.

Residents on Rizzi Lane, near Army Trail and Fair Oaks roads, said they observed several unmarked cars in the area and plainclothes officers walking in and out of the townhouse and searching a black Hummer.

Bartlett police Sgt. Mike McGuigan said his agency wasn't involved in the investigation but confirmed the DEA was at the scene.

The DEA will release more information next week, the spokeswoman said.
