Carpentersville jewelry store robbed

Carpentersville police say more than $100,000 in cash and jewelry was stolen at 11:15 a.m. Friday when five or six men robbed Arturo's at 122-124 N. Kennedy Drive.

Carpentersville police said they still were investigating the robbery Friday afternoon and had few details to release.

Carpentersville police said one man implied he had a gun, but none was displayed.

Police said the five or six robbers escaped in a gray Honda that had a temporary license plate.

Police broadcast a description of the vehicle over the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network within minutes of the robbery, but the Honda was not located.

Arturo's is located in a small strip mall at the intersection of Kings Road and Route 25 and has "Joyeria" in large red letters above the business.

Carpentersville police said they would release more details about the robbery as they became available.
