HomeTown Aurora nears close-out

It's the end of an era -- almost. The homes at HomeTown Aurora are nearly sold out, and Bigelow Homes will begin selling the models soon.

"The success of HomeTown Aurora has been beyond our dreams," says Jamie Bigelow, president of Bigelow Homes. "Even though it's almost sold out, the concept of a well-planned, people-friendly neighborhood will live on."

There are no other communities like HomeTown Aurora in the Chicago area, with features like front porches, extra-wide sidewalks, streets designed to keep traffic safe for children, parks, a town center with child care, a neighborhood cafe, a community life director and annual community events.

There are 10 single-family floor plans to choose from, based priced from $167,820 to $255,300. Loft homes, which surround the Town Center, are based priced from $224,000.

HomeTown Aurora blends small town charm and amenities like contemporary kitchen layouts and lots of closet space. The variety of home designs appeals to singles, young couples, empty-nesters and growing families.

HomeTown Aurora was an early model for environmentally responsible construction. New insulation techniques, insulated windows, and the latest in energy-saving HVAC equipment, improve indoor air quality, increase comfort and lower energy bills.

Bigelow includes a three-year $400 heating guarantee with its single-family homes. This means that if heating bills exceed $400 per year in any of the first three years, Bigelow will pay the difference.

The developer also offers the same heating guarantee for the Lofts, but for $200.

The community has classic small neighborhood features such as traditional exteriors, front porches, white picket fences, bay windows, 6-foot-wide sidewalks, living courts, cul-de-sacs, streets designed to keep traffic at less than 15 mph and inviting destinations. In addition, there is a child-care center on the premises and an elementary school close by.

The two- to five-bedroom 1½- to 3½-bath single-family homes with 1,168 to 2,437 square feet have attached two-car garages They are planned with front porches, eat-in kitchens, oak kitchen cabinets and laminate counters, kitchen pantries, kitchen appliances cultured marble bathroom vanities and carpets with seven-year stain resistant warranties.

The two- to three-bedroom two- to three-bath Loft homes have an urban flair and features such as finished concrete floors, kitchens with granite island counters, upgraded appliances, 10-foot ceilings, three-sided gas fireplaces, exposed ductwork, curved walls and architectural features.

To get to HomeTown Aurora, take Route 59 to Ogden Avenue. Turn west to Montgomery Road, then north one mile.

Furnished HomeTown Aurora single-family models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. six days, from noon to 6 p.m. on Fridays.

Furnished models of the Lofts are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays and from noon to 6 p.m. Fridays. Loft models are closed on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary.
