Man held in Fox View shootings
A man wanted in an August shooting incident at the Fox View Apartments was arrested late Wednesday in Chicago and returned to Carpentersville, police said.
Dion C. Hubbard, 27, of 3337 W. Madison St., Chicago, has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, use of a weapon by a convicted felon, armed violence and aggravated battery on a public way, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.
On Aug. 31, Hubbard struck a woman in the face in the parking lot of 7 Oxford Drive with a gun, knocking her to the ground, and then fired two shots in her direction, police said.
When another woman tried to intervene, Hubbard hit her and fired four shots at her as she was running away, police said.
While bystanders tried to subdue Hubbard, he shot one man in the arm, shot another man in the foot and fired at least one shot at a juvenile who was not injured, police said.
Hubbard then sped off in a car, collided with a Carpentersville police car and fled on foot into the woods at Keith Andres Park near Tulsa Avenue, police said.
The suspect disappeared, but Carpentersville police said they knew who he was and broadcast a message to other police departments that he was wanted.
Chicago police picked him up Wednesday during an investigation for armed robbery and he was turned over to Carpentersville police.
Police said Hubbard has previous convictions on drug and assault charges.
Hubbard is scheduled to appear this morning at a bond call at the Elgin Branch Court.
