Group's expo to focus on smaller businesses

The Black Business Owners and Community Networking Organization's 2007 Entrepreneur and Business Empowerment Expo will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Fox Valley Business Center at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

This event encourages business ownership in the surrounding communities. The expo will be educating and teaching about the importance of the small mom-and-pop businesses in the communities.

So far, there are about 30 vendors ranging from State Farm Insurance. Mary Kay, NOBLE, Dorrel's Sewing Boutique, Generation Obama Campaign and many others. A professional speaker will discuss starting, expanding and funding a new business.

This is an effort to promote new entrepreneurs and local businesses to promote their products and services.
