Grenades, guns found in house
Police on Thursday found a huge stash of weapons, including grenades and a claymore mine, at the Wonder Lake home of a man they were investigating for selling narcotics, police said.
Also among the weapons found at the home of Steve Seymour were 10 shotguns, 14 rifles, several handguns and several hundred rounds of ammunition.
The discovery of 1 gram of cocaine led police to charge Seymour with unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was also charged with criminal fortification of a residence. Both are felonies.
The discovery of the weapons, the cocaine and $500 in cash in the home at 7204 Huron came during a 4 a.m. search conducted by members of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department SWAT team and Narcotics Unit.
Police also discovered that Seymour fortified his home and used cameras to monitor the entrances to his home.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Kane County Bomb Squad and the McHenry County Sheriff's Detectives are continuing to investigate. More charges are expected.
